If a pipe let go overnight, a washer hose burst while you were at work, or another tropical system pushed water into your crawlspace, you've probably already noticed the floors are cool, the baseboards look darker than they should, and the house smells a bit like wet cardboard. It won't dry on its own. Not in Raleigh. Not in a region that sits at 70-something percent humidity for most of the year. Call us and we'll be out today with commercial dehumidifiers and air movers, and we'll document the loss in a way your insurance carrier can actually work with.

When you need structural dehumidification

The water you can see is the easy part. We can extract that in a few hours. What causes the lasting damage is the water that wicks into your 2x4s, your sheathing, the back of your drywall, and the underside of your hardwood floors. With our humidity, that trapped moisture has nowhere to go.

Common reasons people call us: a supply line under the sink, a failed water heater, an overflowed dishwasher, roof leaks after one of the heavier spring storms, sewage backups, and groundwater coming up into the crawlspace after a long wet stretch. Older brick ranches around Five Points and North Hills are particularly bad for hidden moisture because their wall cavities don't breathe well. Crawlspaces under newer builds in Cary and Apex hold water for a different reason, namely that our red clay subsoil drains about as well as a clay flowerpot with no hole in the bottom. Either way, 48 hours is usually all it takes for mold to start setting up.

Our structural dehumidification process

When we arrive, the first job is mapping the moisture. We use penetrating and non-penetrating meters to find every wet pocket, including parts of the wall and subfloor you can't see, and we mark the affected areas in pencil so we know what we're tracking.

After that we set up containment. Refrigerant or desiccant dehumidifiers get sized to the cubic footage and the class of water loss, paired with axial movers placed to pull moisture out of materials and back through the dehumidifier coils. Twice a day we come back to check grain depression, temperature, and material moisture readings, and we move equipment as the structure dries down. Most jobs hit drying goals in three to five days. A saturated crawlspace under a 1960s rancher off Glenwood Avenue can run a day or two longer than that. You'll get daily readings, photos, and a final dry certificate your adjuster can use.

Structural dehumidification cost in Raleigh

Pricing depends on how much area is affected, what category of water you're dealing with (clean, gray, or black), how saturated the materials are when we get there, and how much equipment the job needs to hit IICRC drying standards. A small kitchen leak is a different job from a flooded crawlspace in Garner or a finished basement in a newer Brier Creek home. We give you a written quote before any equipment goes on the floor, walk you through what each line covers, and the number on the invoice is the number we quoted. If your homeowners policy covers the loss, we bill the carrier directly through Xactimate so it doesn't come out of your pocket up front.

Why choose us

Pure Air North Carolina is locally owned and IICRC-certified for water damage restoration and applied structural drying. We've spent years drying houses across the Triangle through hurricane seasons, the occasional ice storm, and the kind of August humidity that makes drying anything in this state hard work. Calls get answered around the clock and we dispatch same day for emergencies. Because we live here, we know what your adjuster is going to ask for, how houses in this region are built, and which neighborhoods sit on the worst-draining clay. That local knowledge is the difference between a job that dries correctly the first time and one that comes back with mold three weeks later.

If your home or business has water damage, every hour the structure stays wet is another hour for mold to take hold. Call Pure Air North Carolina at 877-371-7873 for same-day structural dehumidification anywhere in Raleigh, Cary, Wake Forest, Apex, Garner, or the wider Triangle.
