You can smell it but you can't find it. Maybe the laminate by the dishwasher has gone a little spongy. Or the bonus room over the garage has felt cold and stuffy ever since that line of thunderstorms came through Wake County last week. Whatever it is, it isn't getting better on its own. Call us and we'll usually be at your door the same day with a calibrated infrared camera that shows us where the water is without us having to cut into your drywall.

When you need a thermal imaging inspection

Raleigh houses get hammered by moisture in ways homeowners further north don't really deal with. Summer dewpoints sit in the low 70s for weeks at a stretch. The afternoon storms can dump an inch of rain in twenty minutes. The crawlspaces under the older bungalows in Five Points and Mordecai are basically breathing humid air from May through September. Then you get the opposite problem in January when an Arctic blast rolls in and splits a copper line behind the kitchen wall while you're at work.

Good time to give us a call: a slow drip you can't trace, a roof leak after a Helene-style storm, a fridge water line you suspect is weeping behind the cabinets, a musty closet that won't air out. Don't wait for the stain to actually show on the ceiling. By the time the drywall discolors, the framing behind it has usually been wet for weeks, which is about when mold gets going.

Our thermal imaging process

A technician shows up (in either a marked or unmarked van, your call), walks the affected area with you, and asks what you've been noticing. Then we bring in a FLIR-grade infrared camera that reads surface temperature down to about a tenth of a degree. Wet materials warm up and cool down differently than dry ones, so moisture shows up on the screen as a clearly defined cold or warm signature.

We confirm every thermal hit with a moisture meter, so you're not relying on the camera alone. You get a written report with the images, the meter readings, and a plain-English recommendation on whether you actually need mitigation. A single-room inspection usually runs 45 to 90 minutes. A whole-home scan including crawlspace and attic takes two to three hours.

Thermal imaging cost in Raleigh

What you pay depends on how much square footage we're covering, whether we need to get under the house or into the attic, and how detailed a report your insurance carrier or remediation contractor wants. A single-room inspection on a townhouse downtown is a different job from a full pre-purchase scan on a 4,000 sq ft home off Falls of Neuse, and it's priced that way.

You get a flat quote over the phone or on arrival, before we start. No trip charges buried in the fine print. The number we tell you is the number you pay.

Why choose Pure Air North Carolina

We're a locally owned mold and water mitigation company. We've worked on 1920s craftsman houses in Oakwood, brick ranches around North Hills, and brand-new builds out in Wake Forest and Holly Springs. Our techs are IICRC-certified, fully insured, and they do this work daily, not as a sideline. We can usually get someone out the same day across Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Garner, Knightdale, and most of the Triangle. Every inspection comes with a satisfaction guarantee. If you're not confident in what we found, you don't pay.

If you think there's water somewhere you can't see, the cheapest thing you can do is have us look before it spreads. Call Pure Air North Carolina on 877-371-7873 and we'll get a tech out to you today.
